
Kirsten is a strategy and risk expert with more than twenty five years of experience integrating environmental and social issues into business strategies to deliver higher value outcomes. As a seasoned corporate affairs leader Kirsten has partnered with Empactful Advisors to advise and scale their Corporate Affairs practice.
She has spent nearly three decades in corporate affairs, deploying social risk and strategy management approaches to drive increased value for global energy and extractives companies. Kirsten’s demonstrated expertise includes leading multi-disciplinary teams to accelerate business outcomes through execution of social performance practices, including risk and impact management. She brings broad, global experiences to proactively identify and manage enterprise level risks to ensure corporate strategies and new growth opportunities appropriately integrate and address above ground and beyond the fence line issues.
Over her 27-year career with Chevron, Kirsten held a variety of senior leader roles including most recently the Chief Strategist for Corporate Affairs. In that capacity, she provided strategic counsel to the Vice President of Corporate Affairs on the company’s social risks and stakeholder issues. She oversaw the execution of global functional priorities, developed and managed a $300MM operating budget, and led the execution of the social performance, digital and talent management global strategies.
Additional leadership experiences include heading up ESG investor engagements for both social and environmental issues, running the global policy and legislative and regulatory affairs groups, and achieving codification of social performance expectations in the company’s operational excellence management system.
Kirsten is currently Founder and President at Proventus Advisory, an outcome-driven, execution-focused strategy and delivery firm. She also is an Executive Council Member at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business Center for Energy, Development and the Global Environment and previously served as the Chair of the Conference Board’s Sustainability Council.
She received her bachelor’s degree in art from Whittier College, her juris doctor from Chapman University School of Law with an emphasis in land use and environmental law, and an executive certificate in Disruptive Leadership from Harvard Business School.
