
Albert (“Al”) Williams is a seasoned global energy executive and business leader with more than 34 years of experience at Chevron Corporation, where he most recently served as Corporate Officer and Vice President of Corporate Affairs from 2021 through his retirement in 2025. In that role, he oversaw government affairs, public affairs, community relations, and corporate reputation, aligning external engagement with enterprise strategy across a complex global landscape. Widely regarded as a role model of integrity and high performance, Al contributed to the company’s competitiveness and long-term success from his early work as an engineer on Chevron’s first deepwater development, the Genesis Project, to later leadership roles improving business performance across Chevron Pipeline, Chevron U.S. Upstream, Chevron Australia, and Corporate Affairs.
Over the course of his career, Al held senior leadership roles spanning engineering, operations, finance, and strategic planning in multiple U.S. and international locations, including Kazakhstan, Thailand, Indonesia, and Australia. From 2019 to 2021, he served as Managing Director of Chevron Australia, with responsibility for the company’s financial performance, operational performance, and capital project development, as well as government, partner, and community relations across Australia. His prior roles also include President of Chevron Pipeline Company; Vice President of Chevron Indonesia Heavy Oil Operations; Asset Manager for Chevron Thailand; and General Manager of Finance for Chevron’s Africa and Latin America Exploration and Production Company. Known for his steady leadership, operational rigor, and stakeholder fluency, he built a reputation for leading complex, high-stakes portfolios in mature, long-cycle industries.
Today, Al serves on the Board of Directors of Hancock Whitney Corporation and contributes to several advisory and governance bodies, including the Atlantic Council’s Executive Committee, the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering Board of Advisors, and the Mississippi State University Foundation Board. He is also an Advisor to CEOs and leadership teams as part of the Empactful Advisors team, where he helps organizations create execution-ready strategies that drive measurable outcomes at the scale and speed required in complex environments. A frequent speaker on leadership and corporate affairs, Al also provides commentary on the rapidly evolving energy sector, drawing on his global experience at the intersection of strategy, operations, and stakeholders.
